From the initial phone contact with Jane, who is always so nice to speak to, to Jacks first evaluations by the therapists, I have nothing but good things to say!! It is difficult to have a child with special needs and all of the girls there make it such a pleasure to bring Jack. At first, I was hesitant about coming because the ride is kind of long, but it is so worth it. Jill is always so caring and sweet with Jack and he is making such strides. Gwynn is a terrific speech pathologist and really knows how to work with Jack. His speech is actually somewhat intelligible now, which makes me so happy. "Wow, what an amazing place!! I am truly happy to have found Abilities in Action for my son, Nicholas. Nicholas was born with Down syndrome and immediately needed support with motor delays. As he aged, he needed more services and people who were willing to entice him to work harder. It was not an easy road for Nicholas, but when we first walked into this place I knew he was happy and ready to learn. The resources and various activities that were available for him excited me as I watched him smile. The therapists made it easy to feel comfortable because they were enthusiastic. They were incredibly accommodating of my work schedule in getting my son on the schedule, know my insurance benefits better than I do and are great about reminding parents of scheduling changes. They are also very friendly and really helped put me at ease from the beginning.

The behind the scenes work that happens is pure magic. I belong to a ton of online support groups and I often can not relate to the "paper work" struggles faced by so many. "I always pay tribute to the team at Abilities in Action who take on the hardest fights for us. It is beyond a service, it is a nod to how hard our battles are in our own everyday lives with our children in our society. You acknowledge this and then do something to lighten our burden. You take on the insurance fight with us and often for us.

 

I'm usually not the one who brings my daughter to therapy (my parents do). Every now and then when my daughter has a particular good day (or achieves a new goal), Kim reaches out to me and gives me some direct feedback. It is always a wonderful gift to receive. Having a special needs child with a medical condition is difficult. It is the small strides that we hang on to and it is wonderful to hear positive things. I really appreciate the extra effort and kindness.

Karen is empathetic and considerate and an absolute pleasure to work with. My daughter is so excited as soon as she walks through the door. She runs to Karen with a hug and is so joyful in her presence. This is her first time of separation from me and I am so reassured every time I see not only her joy around Karen but the progress they have made.

Please just keep doing what you are doing. Your therapists are phenomenal and they love my daughters. Your front office staff is fantastic and will help with insurance and scheduling to our children's benefit. We wouldn't go anywhere else and we wouldn't recommend anywhere else, but Abilities in Action.

 

We have had a great experience with Abilities in Action. Alex has been fantastic listening to our goals, concerns, and working with Ryan. He loves his time with her and I am confident that we are helping him.
